Choquequirao via Cachora (5 days)

This lost city has waked up the interest of many travelers, scientists and adventurers. Choquequirao (Quechua word that means “golden cradle”) is considered as important and extensive as Machu Picchu. It is located in la Convencion province in Cusco and has an extraordinary view to the slope of Blanco River, the Canyon of Apurímac River and in the distance we observe the fabulous snow-capped mountain of Salkantay.
Choquequirao is an extraordinary complex that consists of nine architectonic groups. It has hundreds of platform, rooms and irrigation systems with a religious-political center. It is said that it is one of so many citadels lost in Vilcabamba, where the Incas took refuge in the year 1536, just think that only the 30% of the gigantic complex have been partially-cleared and can be easily explored by those intrepid enough to undertake the demanding trek required to get there. The trip to Choquequirao is long and exhausting but certainly unforgettable.

Day 1 Hike to the Mandor Waterfalls
This beautiful and undemanding hike follows a trail that leaves the Cusco to Machu Picchu railway tracks and enters the forest for four kilometres, following the course of the raging Urubamba River. The trail then cuts into the old coffee plantation of Mandorpampa and enters the cloud forest, following the river for a further one and a half hours to the waterfalls. These picturesque falls are about twelve metres high, and are fed by the crystal-clear melt waters of sacred Mount Yanantin.
From the falls, the trail continues up to the ridge, before becoming lost in the increasingly dense vegetation.

Huchuy Qosqo Trek (2 days)

Day 1 Cusco - Patabamba - Huchuy Qosqo
It’s an excellent short trek for families! This is a wonderful trip, the scenery is spectacular and the people that you encounter along the way are amazing, it covers very varied terrain and allows you to camp right on the Huchuy Qosqo (little Cusco) archaeological site and have a great view of the Urubamba valley. You will start your day by driving to Patabamba, approximately 1 1/2 hours. Here the people are lovely, genuine and the children are incredibly curious, option of visit a weaver´s home, then you will meet your crew and pack animals, and start your trek. The hike really is amazing and the scenery changes drastically. You hike through a couple small communities which gives you a great sense of how the Andean people really live. You will need to carry nothing else than your camera and water bottle. Food is plentiful and made from fresh ingredients. Cooked breakfast and dinner, picnic lunch and morning and afternoon snacks with hot beverages. Tents will be set up when you arrive at your campsite. This trek is off the main tourist trail. Today you will walk a total 13 km. Overnight in tents

This lost city fascinated 19th century explorers and Hiram Bingham visited it two years before he discovered Machu Picchu. Difficult to reach, the ruins are rarely visited by travellers.

Weavers Trek (2 days)

Day 1 Patakancha - Ipsaycocha
Drive to Patakancha (3,900m/12,795ft), a Quechua community, where people live very much like their Inca ancestors, in stone and adobe homes with thatch roofs. The locals weave much of their clothing, work the land with foot ploughs and live off their llama and alpacas supplementing their income working as porters. Visit the community and school. After the community visit you will meet your trekking crew, your kit will be loaded, and you will start your hike. As you leave the village, you will enjoy views of Alpaca and llama herds grazing along the trail. The scenery is typical of the high Andes with “ichu” or high altitude grass as well as some polylepis trees. After approximately 1.5 hours of ascent the trail flattens and you reach “Ipsaycocha” (4,600m/15,092ft), a beautiful small lagoon near the campsite (4,200m/13,780ft). Overnight in tents.
